Site Support Analyst Jason Lalo observes the loading of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo at the Australia Pacific LNG facility on Curtis Island near Gladstone, Queensland. Operated by ConocoPhillips, the facility receives natural gas by pipeline from coal seam gas fields in Queensland. The facility liquefies the gas in two export trains prior to loading onto LNG carriers for transport to customers in Asia. It shipped its first LNG cargo in January 2016 and its 1,000th cargo in April 2024.

Surmont continues to deliver reliable performance for ConocoPhillips Canada. The 104W-A pad reached first steam in Q3 and first oil in December last year, about a month ahead of schedule. Bohai Phase 5 is now fully online, safely delivered in partnership with operator CNOOC. The project adds two new wellhead platforms, four platform expansions and 91 wells. The momentum continues with the recent successful installation of the Penglai Power from Shore electrical power platform, as part of China’s largest and highest-voltage offshore electrification project. Equipped with a 220-kV power system, it will enable grid power to support safer, more reliable offshore operations. Discovered in 1999, the Penglai Oilfield has grown into one of China’s largest offshore oilfields, now with 19 offshore platforms, a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, and more than 70 km of subsea pipelines.
