Embla
Embla is an oil and gas field that was discovered in 1988 and started production in 1993. The reservoir is sandstone and is located at a depth of about 4000 meters. Embla is the first the field with high pressure and high temperature developed in the area.
The Embla 2/7 D platform is located 24 kilometers south of the Ekofisk Complex. Water depth in the area is 70-75 meters. The platform is normally unmanned and is maintained as needed. Daily operation is run from a control room at the Eldfisk Complex, but it is managed locally on the platform if personnel are on board for maintenance and inspection.
The oil and gas are transported via a 5.2-kilometer pipeline to Eldfisk 2/7 S, where they are processed before transport to Ekofisk 2/4 J on the Ekofisk Complex for further export.
Embla is one of three producing fields in the Greater Ekofisk Area. The field is located in block 2/7 in production license (PL) 018. ConocoPhillips is the operator with an ownership interest of 35.11 percent.
